Our driver will pick you up from your location on Lombok Island and take you to the scenic village of Senaru, where you will spend the night
Our adventure begins bright and early, with a 6:30 am wake-up call. After enjoying breakfast at 7 am, we'll pack all our belongings in preparation for the day's trek. Outside, our mountain car will be ready, waiting to whisk us away to our starting point at RTC (Rinjani Trekking Centre) Senaru—a mere 10-minute drive from your hotel. Upon arrival, we'll handle the necessary registrations, and then embark on our trekking adventure. The initial 50 minutes provide a picturesque backdrop with open views, allowing us to appreciate the green hues of coffee, chocolate, bamboo, and other plantations that are a source of livelihood for the local residents of Senaru. This scenic journey culminates at “the gate of the jungle”, fondly known as “JEBAG GAWAH”, where we'll pause for a 10-15 minute breather.
The first day is the most challenging yet rewarding, with an approximate 8-9 hours of walking, encompassing breaks and lunchtime. The dense jungle canopy shields us from the sun’s rays. Along the way, we'll encounter several pos/shelters—stopping points that offer a momentary respite. POS 1, located at an elevation of 915m, is roughly a 40-50 minute walk from JEBAG GAWAH. From there, an hour-long trek takes us to POS EXTRA at 1165m, where we’ll have a brief stop for refreshments, including water, biscuits, and fruits. Our journey then leads us to POS 2 at 1500m, which is our chosen spot for a 1-2 hour lunch break. As we relax, our guide and porter will prepare a warm meal, complemented by hot beverages and a selection of soft drinks, all the while surrounded by enchanting forest views.
After refueling, our trek progresses to POS 3, followed by POS 4, both offering moments of relaxation and breathtaking vistas. The day’s trek concludes at the Senaru Crater Rim at 2641m, where a 25-minute walk rewards us with views of sunsets, volcanoes, and the summit of Rinjani Mountain. The serene ambiance is complemented by sleeping under the stars, with our tents set up by our guide and porter. As night falls, we'll gather together for a well-deserved dinner.
